Documents related to Sakinah Khanum's claim against Afrasiyab Khan, 1915 to 1916
Regarding a claim by Sakinah Khanum, wife of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Ali from Sabzivar, against Afrasiyab Khan (Alexander), son of Comte de Monte Fort, over two white horses. She presents an affidavit and a settlement in which her daughter, Kawkab Khanum, has transferred ownership of the two horses to her along with their accessories and a carriage. Haji Riza Gari-chi (coachman) from Shiraz, son of Rustam Khan, had transferred the mentioned items to his wife, Kawkab Khanum, for her mahr of one hundred fifty tumans. ‘Izzat al-Saltanah gives a report of their travel: first, on the way from Tehran to Qum, Mahmud Khan was thrown from the carriage, but only sustained minor injuries on his hands, for which Khanum [their mother, Khadijah Sultan] sacrificed a few sheep. They stayed for one night and made pilgrimages to the shrine. The road from Qum to Burujird was bumpy. Near ʻIraq-i ʻAjam (Arak), the servants' carriage was overturned but nobody was injured. Letter from ‘Abd al-Husayn Mirza Farmanfarma to ʻAbbas Mirza, 1911
Discusses the high cost of keeping the horses, asks the addressee to keep only ten horses for the use of Khanum's carriage, the andaruni, the addressee's carriage, breeding, and horse riding, and returning the rest. On the margin, there is a note ordering to keep only ten horses, to sometimes send two or three horses to ʻAbdul Abad, and to make sure there is enough hay.
